42.audio is a boutique loudspeaker manufacture and a curated component shop based in Ladenburg. Inspired by Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy we build loudspeakers — and curate drivers, kits and electronics — for everyone who doesn't panic when a datasheet runs three pages long.

What we believe
For Douglas Adams, 42 is the answer to everything. For us, it's the start of a question: What must a good loudspeaker really do today — and for whom? Our answer rests on four principles.
Honesty to the music — we don't bend the sound, we let it through.
No frills that don't sound. No ornament that only fills datasheets.
Material that doesn't have to pretend. Wood stays wood, copper develops its patina.
Physics applies even when it isn't so easy to sell.
And our real goal: High-end isn't a price tag, it's a question of engineering. We build uncompromising hero projects — and then systematically scale them down until their quality becomes attainable even for those who don't spend five figures. Great sound should be off-limits to no one.

Frank Wolf
Frank combines a background in precision engineering with years of loudspeaker development. At 42.audio he is responsible for concept, acoustics and construction — from the copper ring and cabinet geometry to the DSP tuning.
His standard is simple: loudspeakers that don't try to impress, but to be right. Better one more detail calculated than one more promised.
