Beyma CP-22: super tweeter from 5,000 Hz with 1.5" coil and 40 W AES
Not every tweeter has to start low. The Beyma CP-22 begins at 5,000 Hz, which makes it a super tweeter: a compression tweeter with integrated horn that takes over the top band up to 20,000 Hz in three-way systems or restores the sparkle to a compression driver that rolls off early.
Its basis is that of a full-size CP tweeter: 1.5" voice coil, 5.2 Tm force factor, 8 Ω, plus 1.6 kg and 71 mm mounting depth. It is rated at 40 W AES, which is more than enough above 5,000 Hz because only a small fraction of the music power falls in this band.
Use and enclosure
The classic application is the three-way PA top: woofer, mid-range driver or mid horn, and above them the CP-22 from 5,000 Hz. With 12 dB/oct. passive you place the crossover higher for safety; with steeper filters you can approach 5,000 Hz. The 1.5" coil handles short transients far better than a smaller motor.
Second use case: complementing large compression drivers or full-range drivers that roll off at the top. The CP-22 is then wired in parallel with a high-pass and level control. No separate horn is needed; the integrated horn defines the coverage. If you want to change it, combine a Beyma driver with a model from Horns & Waveguides instead.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use the CP-22 in a two-way box?
Only if the mid-woofer plays cleanly up to 5,000 Hz, which is rare. A three-way design or adding it to an existing HF horn makes more sense.
How do I integrate it as a super tweeter?
High-pass above 5,000 Hz, match the level to the main tweeter with a series resistor or L-pad, and watch the polarity. A series capacitor additionally protects against low frequencies.
How does the CP-22 differ from the lower-reaching CP models with 1.5" coil?
Coil and force factor of 5.2 Tm are the same, but the CP-22 specialises in the band from 5,000 Hz and is rated at 40 W AES. If you need to cross the tweeter lower, choose a model with a lower operating limit.
