Beyma CP-755Ti: 1.4" compression driver with titanium diaphragm, 70 W AES, 600–20,000 Hz
The Beyma CP-755Ti is the ferrite version of the 1.4" driver with 2.85" voice coil in the CP series. Its 6.75 kg weight leaves no doubt about the construction: a conventional magnet system provides a BL of 10 Tm, without the price premium that neodymium brings. The titanium diaphragm works from 600 Hz to 20,000 Hz, and power handling is 70 W AES at 8 Ω.
For fixed installations, studio main monitors or domestic horn systems a heavy ferrite driver is no disadvantage, quite the opposite: ferrite is thermally forgiving and hardly ages. The large magnet volume also acts as a heat sink for the 2.85" voice coil, which becomes noticeable in continuous high-level operation. Where the driver never has to be carried or flown, there is little argument against this classic layout.
Use and enclosure
A 1.4" exit allows a lower crossover than a 1" driver without making the horn mouth as large as with 2". That predestines the CP-755Ti for two-way systems with a 12" or 15" woofer where the cone should not run up into the presence region. The crossover should sit clearly above the 600 Hz lower limit. At 24 dB/octave an octave of headroom is a solid rule of thumb, more with shallower filters. With 78 mm mounting depth and 6.75 kg the driver needs a stiff horn mount, ideally with a support under the magnet. A moderate amplifier channel is enough for the 70 W AES; in active operation a limiter is part of the package.

Frequently asked questions
How does the CP-755Ti differ from the CP-755Nd?
Same throat size, same 2.85" voice coil, but different magnets. The CP-755Ti uses ferrite and weighs 6.75 kg, the CP-755Nd is the much lighter neodymium version. If you build stationary systems, the Ti saves money; if you carry or fly, take the Nd.
Which horn is recommended?
Any 1.4" horn with a matching bolt pattern, such as the 18Sound PR614 or XR1496C, or the Beyma horns from the Horns & Waveguides category. For a crossover near the lower limit the horn should be as large as possible.
How much amplifier power does the driver need?
An 8 Ω channel in the region of the 70 W AES rating is sufficient. Compression drivers are highly efficient, so more power only raises the risk; a limiter or a series capacitor protects the coil.
