Celestion K12H-200TC: 12" full-range driver with 2" voice coil, 200 W AES and 98 dB
The 2" voice coil is the decisive difference: the Celestion K12H-200TC is the high-power version of the 12" dual-cone full-range driver, rated at 200 W AES, 400 W continuous and 98 dB sensitivity at 8 Ω. As on its smaller sibling, a second cone in front of the Kevlar-reinforced paper cone extends the response to 10,000 Hz – without a separate tweeter.
Pressed steel basket, ferrite magnet with 14.63 Tm of motor force and a cloth-sealed surround make up a driver built for sound reinforcement with one unit per box: paging systems, music in halls and outdoors, columns, or a DIY full-range project where the amplifier connects straight to the driver without a crossover. With 4 mm Xmax it has more linear excursion than the K12H-100TC.
Use and enclosure
Fs 62.3 Hz, Qts 0.374, Vas 64.1 l – the EBP of 144 places the K12H-200TC firmly in a bass reflex enclosure. Guide value: 57 l tuned to 63 Hz, with a lower cutoff of 64 Hz. Sealed with a Butterworth alignment you arrive at 25 l with an in-box resonance of 118 Hz – more of a midrange chamber than a full-range box. Both variants can be adapted to your dimensions with the enclosure calculator at 42.audio.
You do not have to cross it over; the dual cone covers up to 10,000 Hz. If you add a tweeter, place its high-pass above the whizzer's range and let the K12H-200TC run without a low-pass. A high-pass below the tuning frequency protects the 4 mm Xmax at high levels.
