97 dB sensitivity from a 6.5" driver: the Celestion TF0615MR is a closed-back midrange unit from the TF series, tuned for efficiency in the speech and presence region. A ferrite magnet, a 1.5" voice coil on a polyimide former and a Kevlar-loaded paper cone with an impregnated paper surround sit in a pressed steel frame with a closed rear. It handles 50 W AES (100 W programme) and covers 500 to 5000 Hz.
The closed design defines its character: the air chamber behind the cone is part of the driver, which is why resonance sits high at 553 Hz and there are no Thiele-Small parameters for enclosure tuning. What the driver offers instead is a midrange that mounts into the baffle without a chamber of its own and behaves electrically without fuss at Re 5.53 Ω and Le 0.29 mH. At 1.4 kg and 74 mm mounting depth, installation effort stays low.
Use and enclosure
The TF0615MR is intended for the midrange section of a 3-way system, typically in sound reinforcement cabinets where the woofer sits below and a compression driver or dome above. The lower crossover must sit clearly above the 553 Hz resonance; treat the manufacturer's 500 Hz limit as the end of the range, not as a crossover suggestion. With steep filters and a crossover well above Fs, the impedance curve and distortion in the hand-over region stay under control.
At the top, the useful range ends at 5000 Hz, so a tweeter has to take over before the 6.5" cone beams too strongly. The high sensitivity of 97 dB makes it easy to match the midrange to a woofer of similar sensitivity via the crossover without giving away level. Cut-out 147 mm; only 74 mm of depth is needed behind the baffle and no compartment is required.

- Closed rear: no midrange compartment, straight into the baffle of the 3-way box.
