Celestion TF1530: 15" woofer with 99 dB and a 3" voice coil for high output
Within the TF series, the Celestion TF1530 is the 15" woofer for high output levels. 400 W AES (800 W programme) and 99 dB sensitivity come from a substantial ferrite magnet with BL 21.22 Tm and a 3" round-wire copper voice coil on a polyimide former. The weight of 6.9 kg tells you there is considerably more magnet material here than in the smaller fifteens of the range.
The parameters follow suit: Fs 42 Hz, Qts 0.281, Qes 0.313, Vas 162.2 l, Mms 91.7 g, Re 5.82 Ω, Le 0.96 mH, Xmax 4 mm. The low Qts and the EBP of 134 describe a driver that works in relatively small vented boxes or horn-loaded and plays its efficiency card there. The working band of 40 to 3000 Hz covers the complete bass section of a two-way box. Kevlar-reinforced paper cone, cloth-sealed surround, pressed steel chassis, mounting depth 163 mm.
Use and enclosure
Vented guideline: about 64 l tuned to 55 Hz, f3 around 65 Hz. That is compact for a 15" and results in a typical full-range top with high output but no deep-bass ambition. Sealed: 30 l with fc at 106 Hz, only sensible with a subwoofer underneath. Larger volumes with lower tuning are possible, but the response then rolls off earlier; the enclosure calculator on 42.audio plots the curve.
Recommended for two-way tops with a compression driver and horn from the Celestion range, for bass horns, and for applications where sensitivity ranks above excursion. Cross over well below 3000 Hz. The 4 mm Xmax is the limit: a high-pass has to sit below the tuning frequency.

Output and efficiency: 99 dB, 400 W AES and a strong motor in compact vented boxes. The siblings with more excursion like bigger enclosures; the TF1530 makes more level in the upper bass and low mids from less volume.
Does the TF1530 work in a bass horn?
The low Qts of 0.281 and BL 21.22 Tm are good prerequisites for horn loading. Actual horn designs need a simulation; the parameters for that are in the driver database at 42.audio.
Which power amplifier for the TF1530?
