Celestion TFX0615: 6.5" coaxial with silk dome, waveguide and 98 dB
On the Celestion TFX0615 the silk dome does not simply sit in front of the pole piece but inside an integrated waveguide that shapes the coverage to a nominal 110° and smooths the transition to the 6.5" cone. Neodymium motor, pressed steel chassis, Kevlar-loaded paper cone and silk surround are the ingredients; the 1" voice coil of round copper wire on a polyimide former is rated at 10 W AES and 20 W continuous.
With 98 dB sensitivity, 8 Ω and a range of 1,700 to 20,000 Hz, the driver targets two-way compact boxes that get by on little power. The Thiele-Small values are unusually tight at Fs 96.8 Hz, Qts 0.376 and Vas 7.18 l; in return, Xmax 5.25 mm and BL 9.82 Tm allow plenty of excursion and drive.
Use and enclosure
EBP 226: a clear reflex or satellite candidate. The bass-reflex guide value is 6.5 l with fb 98 Hz and f3 around 99 Hz, sealed 2.8 l with fc at 182 Hz. Both say the same thing: the TFX0615 is a mid-high coaxial that needs a subwoofer from roughly its f3 downwards. You can verify the alignment in the 42.audio enclosure calculator.
Crossover at 2,200 Hz with 12 dB/oct.; the dome is rated from 1,700 Hz. The waveguide provides the 110° nominal coverage that suits wide listening zones such as ceiling mounting or conference rooms. For near-field monitors with subwoofer, compact surround speakers or installation projects where a 5" format has too little cone area, it is the obvious choice.

Frequently asked questions
Is the TFX0615 suitable as a full-range driver?
No. With Fs 96.8 Hz and f3 around 99 Hz in a reflex box, the bass is missing; as a mid-high unit with subwoofer, however, it plays to its strengths: shared axis, 98 dB and 110° coverage.
How does it differ from the 5" silk-dome model in the TFX series?
More cone area, higher sensitivity at 98 dB, more excursion with 5.25 mm Xmax and a waveguide in front of the dome. In return the Fs is higher and the low-end extension smaller; you need a subwoofer in any case.
Which amplifier and crossover for the TFX0615?
10 to 20 W into 8 Ω is sufficient, more endangers the 1" coil. The crossover sits at 2,200 Hz with 12 dB/oct.; active with a steeper filter you can relieve the dome further.
