Beyma CP-800/Ti: 2" compression driver with 4" titanium diaphragm and 100 W AES from 500 Hz
Large voice coil, large magnet, large ambitions: the Beyma CP-800/Ti is a 2" compression driver with a 4" voice coil and titanium diaphragm that handles 100 W AES at 8 Ω and can be used from 500 Hz upwards. The BL of 15 Tm shows how much force the ferrite motor puts on the coil, and the total weight of 10.3 kg shows what that costs in magnet material.
In professional use a 4" driver is the class for systems that must deliver high continuous levels in the upper midrange: big two-way cabinets, mid-high units in three-way systems and long-throw horn rigs. The large diaphragm pushes the lower usable limit down while the frequency range still extends to 20,000 Hz. Within the CP series the CP-800/Ti is the ferrite counterpart to the lighter CP-850Nd.
Use and enclosure

Frequently asked questions
When is the CP-800/Ti worth it over the CP-750/Ti?
When high continuous levels in the upper midrange are required. The 4" voice coil and 100 W AES rating offer far more thermal reserve and the motor is stronger, but the CP-800/Ti is heavier and deeper. For medium levels the smaller sibling is enough.
Can I use this driver as the tweeter in a three-way system?
Yes, then it works far above its 500 Hz lower limit with a large safety margin. However, a 4" driver is not as refined in the topmost range as smaller drivers; for pure high-frequency duty 1" models are the more obvious choice.
Which power amp makes sense?
An 8 Ω channel in the region of the 100 W AES rating, with a limiter. Compression drivers convert power very efficiently; oversized amplifiers are the biggest risk to the voice coil when someone makes a mistake.
