Beyma 10WRS300: 10" woofer with Qts 0.38, 300 W AES and 95 dB for two-way boxes

With the 10WRS300 in its WRS series, Beyma offers a 10" woofer that differs from its sibling 10WR300 mainly in the tuning of the motor. Both have a 2" voice coil, 300 W AES, 95 dB sensitivity and the 55 to 5000 Hz frequency range. The 10WRS300 sits a little higher at Qes 0.29 and Qts 0.38, which allows a somewhat larger but lower-tuned bass-reflex volume.

The remaining values are familiar: Fs 52 Hz, Vas 42 l, Xmax 6.5 mm, displacement volume 572 cm³, BL 17.5 Tm on 65 g of moving mass. Le 0.9 mH and Re 6.3 Ω belong in the crossover calculation. At 3.5 kg and 160 mm mounting depth it shares the dimensions of the 10WR300, a ferrite woofer for fixed installation in two-way boxes, monitors and small full-range systems.

Use and enclosure

For bass reflex the Thiele-Small parameters give a guide value of around 39 l tuned to 52 Hz with an f3 also near 52 Hz. In the same cabinet type the 10WRS300 therefore goes slightly deeper than the 10WR300 but asks for more volume. Sealed it would be about 17 l with a cut-off around 97 Hz. The EBP of 179 confirms the reflex focus; work out port dimensions and excursion control in the enclosure calculator at 42.audio.

As a woofer/midrange in a 10" two-way box it runs up to the handover to a compression driver, which should sit well below the 5000 Hz upper limit. Beyma horns and 1" compression drivers are found at 42.audio in the horns and waveguides and compression driver categories respectively.

What to look out for

  • 8 Ω, Re 6.3 Ω: 300 W into 8 Ω as amplifier power, plan for a limiter.
  • Reflex guide value 39 l at 52 Hz: more volume than the 10WR300, but a lower f3.
  • Mounting depth 160 mm and 3.5 kg: allow for cabinet depth in the design.
  • Xmax 6.5 mm: a high-pass filter below the tuning frequency protects the motor.

Frequently asked questions

10WRS300 or 10WR300, which one should I pick?

The 10WRS300 has Qts 0.38 and works out to about 39 l of reflex volume with an f3 around 52 Hz. The 10WR300 at Qts 0.35 gets by with less volume but does not go quite as deep. If you can fit the larger cabinet, the 10WRS300 gives you a bit more low-end.

How does the 10WRS300 compare with the FaitalPRO 10PR320?

The 10PR320 has very similar parameters at Fs 50 Hz, Qts 0.38 and Vas 50.6 l, but needs more cabinet because of its larger Vas. The 10WRS300 is more compact at Vas 42 l and available directly from the 42.audio shop.

Is a sealed box enough?

With an EBP of 179 the 10WRS300 is not a driver for sealed bass boxes; the guide value is 17 l with a cut-off near 97 Hz. That only makes sense as a midrange chamber in a 3-way system or with a subwoofer underneath.

At 42.audio you get the BEYMA 10WRS300 with all key data in the driver database and the enclosure calculator. More drivers from this manufacturer: Atlas Beyma.
