18Sound 10NCX750H: 10" coax with asymmetric 50°x70° horn and 350 W AES
If you need a 10" coaxial driver for a cabinet that must cover different angles horizontally and vertically, the 18Sound 10NCX750H is the one. The H denotes the asymmetric horn with 50°x70° dispersion that loads the HF driver in the centre of the woofer. Otherwise the basis is the same as on the sister model: 10" woofer with 3" voice coil, compression driver with 2.4" voice coil and titanium diaphragm, neodymium motor, 4.25 kg, 148 mm mounting depth, 8 Ω, 350 W AES.
Sensitivity is 95 dB. The woofer section is a classic pro motor: Fs 65 Hz, Qms 8.4, Qes 0.26, Qts 0.25, Vas 21.7 l, BL 19.8 Tm with Mms 47 g and 5.5 mm Xmax. Low Qts with high BL means the driver is strongly damped electrically and wants to work in a bass reflex box or a horn – in a sealed enclosure the low end would roll off early. The cone area Sd of 346 cm² and the excursion are enough for a top with solid punch, not for deep bass.
Use and enclosure
The asymmetric horn makes the 10NCX750H a candidate for cabinets used rotated or tilted: a monitor wedge covers the stage with the wide axis and limits spill back into the microphone with the narrow one; an upright top uses the wide axis horizontally. Since the HF dispersion is defined entirely by the horn, you can mount the driver turned by a quarter turn in the cabinet and solve both orientations with the same unit.
Enclosure: bass reflex with around 6.1 l net, tuned to 95 Hz, f3 near 118 Hz as a guide from the Thiele-Small parameters; the EBP of 250 leaves no doubt here. Sealed, roughly 3.1 l at fc 184 Hz only makes sense as a mid-high compartment above a subwoofer.
