18Sound 15W750: 15" ferrite woofer with 600 W and 8 mm Xmax for bass and mids
The 15W750 is the higher-rated of the two 3" models in 18Sound's W series. 600 W AES, 8 mm linear excursion and a ferrite magnet make a robust 15" driver that, with 97 dB sensitivity and a stated range of 50 Hz to 4300 Hz, covers bass and lower midrange. Weight is 7.9 kg, mounting depth 184 mm.
With Fs 39 Hz, Qts 0.37, Qes 0.39 and Vas 218 l the 15W750 sits in a parameter region that allows large vented boxes with real extension. The moving mass of 88 g and BL 17.6 Tm keep efficiency high, and the high Qms of 9.34 indicates a suspension with little mechanical damping. The 1.1 mH inductance is low for a 3" coil.
Use and enclosure
The EBP of 100 sits exactly on the boundary between sealed and vented; in practice vented is the better choice for extension. The guide value from the TSP is generous: about 188 l net tuned to 40 Hz with an f3 near 41 Hz. That is subwoofer extension from a driver that also plays up to 4300 Hz – interesting for large 2-way full-range boxes or bass guitar. Sealed gives roughly 82 l at fc 75 Hz, which works as a mid chamber in a 3-way system or as a compact bass with subwoofer support. Check both routes in the enclosure calculator at 42.audio.
In a 2-way box with a horn you cross well below 4300 Hz; suitable horns are in the 18Sound horns & waveguides category. With low tuning and high power a high-pass below fb makes sure the 8 mm excursion is not exceeded.
What to look out for
- 600 W AES into 8 Ω (Re 5.1 Ω), 3" voice coil, Xmax 8 mm.
- 97 dB sensitivity, stated range 50–4300 Hz.
- Ferrite magnet, 7.9 kg, mounting depth 184 mm.
- Vas 218 l: vented guide value 188 l for f3 near 41 Hz, sealed around 82 l.
Frequently asked questions
What distinguishes the 15W750 from the 15ND840?
Both have Qts 0.37, but the 15ND840 uses neodymium, has Fs 43 Hz and Vas 163 l. The 15W750 is heavier with ferrite, has the lower resonance at 39 Hz and needs a larger box because of its 218 l Vas. If you want to save weight, pick the 15ND840 in the shop.
Is the 15W750 suitable for a bass guitar cabinet?
Yes, 600 W, 8 mm excursion and 97 dB fit well. In a vented box around 188 l it reaches down to about 41 Hz; a smaller box with higher tuning is more practical for stage cabinets.
Which amplifier should I plan for?
An amplifier around 600 W into 8 Ω uses the power handling fully. Thanks to 97 dB you reach high levels with less power for most applications; more important is a high-pass if you tune low.

Enclosure suggestion
The EBP of 100 is in the intermediate range — either works; sealed plays tighter, bass reflex deeper and louder. EBP = fs / Qes = 39 / 0.39
Sealed (Qtc 0.707)
- Enclosure volume Vb
- 82.2 l
- System resonance Fc
- 75 Hz
- Cut-off frequency F3
- 75 Hz
Bass reflex (QB3 after Small)
- Enclosure volume Vb
- 163.9 l
- Tuning frequency Fb
- 43 Hz
- Cut-off frequency F3
- 44 Hz
Vb is the required net internal volume, Fb the tuning frequency of the reflex port and F3 the frequency at which the level has dropped by 3 dB. Calculated approximation after Small. A starting point for simulation, not a finished build plan.
